The variety of the baked goods is the perfect amount, not too overwhelming or small. The food tastes amazing and has pastries I can’t find in most places. No complaints.

The kitchen team at Rotha in Albany is firing on all cylinders, but a frustrating disconnect at the packing counter holds the final experience back from being the absolute best bakery experience in the East Bay. The hospitality here starts out incredibly warm. The baker actually let me and another person inside around 7:30 AM—thirty minutes before their official 8:00 AM opening—just because it was cold and windy outside and he didn't want us stuck waiting in the cool weather. Once inside the small shop, ordering was an efficient tag-team effort: I called out what I wanted, the chef boxed the items up, and a lady rang them up simultaneously as I spoke, making the whole process incredibly fast. They then let me back out and locked the door until opening. But that speed seems to come at a cost once the box closes. Shoving a delicate, shatteringly crisp butter croissant tightly into a box right next to a heavy, wet egg tart is just lazy. Having driven 20 minutes to get here, and having planned on waiting an hour in line after that just to secure these items, it was disappointing to open the box in the car and see that the tart had been placed against the croissant, crushing its delic

Amazing pastries selection at reasonable prices! The line was moving super fast and you can even get some free coffee sample while you wait. On this picture: - Croissant ($3.75) - Pain au chocolat ($4.75) - Pain aux raisins ($5.75) - My fav! - Pain aux abricots ($4.75) - Pain au chocolat et aux amandes ($5.75) - Gateau au chocolat et noisettes ($5.25) - Far Breton ($4.50) - Canelé ($3.75) The owner (French) was really nice. You can tell it's a small operation but they genuinely care and everything tasted great. Easy/free street parking.

Getting 4.9 review in the Bay Area is no joke. And Patisserie Rotha definitely deserved it. Every pastry we got is heavenly. And I thought I would never found an egg tart that rivals ones from Golden Gate Bakery. While the one from GGB is mouth filled with jiggly custard, the one from here is crunchy with thousand layers of crust while the custard is more sticking together. Totally different approach but amazing delicious. The lesson: just try everything!

Ok after an early morning of fishing near the Albany Beach, I was feeling a little hungry and decided to look up nearby cafe’s/bakeries - Patisserie Rotha came up and it was highly rated - so that was the spot plus it was close by. There was a line out the door - so I was thinking this place has to be good right. I asked a few customers ahead of me if this place was good and they gave it a big thumbs up. When I got in the door man there was not much left (They only bake so much and close when they run out) However, I was lucky there was still a few Croissants and tarts left. YAY!! I purchased a Croissant-tart-chocolate cake (not sure of the name) I just want to say these are one of the best Croissants I had in the Bay Area and they are only 3.75ea that is one of the best deals out there. The tart was also very good both 5 stars. I would give the cake 4 stars but still good. Overall if you are looking for one of the best Croissants in the bay at one of the best prices look no further but get there early before they sell out. This place is highly recommended.
